Anti-foulant

Fouling is used as a general term regarding polymer deposits, salt mineral deposits, and other undesired particles deposited on different surface materials. This problem has detrimental effect on towers and exchangers performance. Antifouling agents are used to prevent different type of fouling problems with their effect to reduce production cost, increase plant output production, better product quality and increase equipment life time. Antifoulants are used in following applications: Undesired polymerization causing process fouling; Solve process fouling due to sludge, tar, and polymer particles in raw material; Prevent corrosion and deposition in sensitive instruments; Avoid formation of salt deposit in refinery heat exchangers.

Fouling is a general word for unwanted deposit and precipitation. Polymerization is a kind of fouling. Another kind of fouling is salt formation in refineries. Polymerization is propagation of monomer molecules and forms a gum like substance. This phenomenon is harmful for towers, heat exchangers, and causes weak performance.
